Graffiti Soldier in Banwell
Graffiti soldier stands guard near village`s war memorial
A house in Banwell has become part of a tribute to the armed forces put together by street artist D-NEK. Ahead of Remembrance Sunday, the talented street artist painted a picture of a soldier guarding over the village`s war memorial. The soldier`s name is George and the artwork comes from a picture taken after his first contact with the Taliban. The artist stated that "this is his tribute to all our armed forces".
It is understood the owner of the house in Banwell gave permission for the wall to be used for the painting, and locals have been urging North Somerset Council not to remove the artwork.
The same image has also been painted near Apple Taxis in Alexandra Parade, Weston and in Chapel Street in Burnham.
